  • Can I rent a car from Smart Car Hire with a foreign Driving License and not an International License?
    Yes, as long as it is a valid US, UK or European license.
  • Can we leave the car at the airport?
    No. We can meet you at the airport for collection at an additional fee of R450.
  • Does Smart Car Hire deliver cars to the airport?
    Yes, we then charge R450 delivery fee.
  • Can I use my deposit to pay my rental at the end of my contract?
    No, as we then do not have a deposit.
  • Can we pay with credit card?
    Yes, but we do not accept American Express or Diners Club cards.
  • Can I rent long-term?
    yes, we offer monthly special rates.
  • Is there insurance on the vehicle?
    Yes, the insurance is included in the price. The excess is R5000 in the event of an accident or the car getting stolen. Any damage to the vehicle including scratches, dents, damaged tires,windscreen damage etc. will be deducted from the R5000 deposit.
  • Can I do the Garden Route?
    Yes, as long as you are within the 250km radius.
  • Can I go out of the 250km zone if I pay extra?
    No.
  • What happens if something goes wrong with the car?

  • Do the Smart Cars have air-conditioning?
    Yes, all our vehicles have air-conditioning.
  • Can I rent a car with no excess?
    No, but you can take the Excess Reducer option @ R100 per day and reduce the excess to R3000.
